The Bangabandhu Satellite-1 is the first Bangladeshi geostationary communications satellite operated by Bangladesh Communication Satellite Company Limited. Which scheduled to launch 07 May 2018. The project implemented by Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission.

On that day, at 8 am local time of the United States, (Bangla 8 May at 2 pm), space fix ‘Falcon-9’ will go to space in Bangabandhu Satellite-1. However, due to weather and surroundings, it is not possible to call a specific date for satellite launch. Earlier, satellite launch dates follow in a few phases. It reported that the satellite will launch from April 1 to April 15 in the second week of April. But later it back on May 4.

It is to note that the total cost of implementation of the Bangabandhu Satellite-1 project is Tk 2,990 crore. Of this, Tk 1,544 crore given from the government fund. And HSBC Bank is giving Taka 1,358 crore as loan to the rest.
There will be a total of 40 transponders of Bangabandhu satellite. Of these 20 transponders will keep for use in Bangladesh. The remaining 20 transponders will keep for sale to any foreign company.
These artificial satellites will provide 40 types of services including satellite television channels, Internet service providers, V-sat, and radio. If the natural disaster affected by the tertiary infrastructures Bangabandhu Satellite will ensure the continuous communication system throughout the country, e-services as the environment communication medium.
